How to Use Background Video in a Marquee

  1. Grab your video url from YouTube. You must use the full url not the shortened share url, example - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSqJIIcxKZM.
  2. Use the Backend Editor to edit the marquee row with the #outer-floating ID.
  3. Go to the Background Tab.
  4. Set the Background style to Youtube Video.
  5. Paste in the Youtube url.
  6. Check the loop and mute options – The loop option is important so the video will keep looping. Mute is important for the video to auto play even if the video has no sound. The mute option triggers the browser to allow the video to play.
  7. Optionally set a delayed start time.
  8. Save your background video settings and preview your page.
  9. Don't forget to add a mobile image in the row above the #outer-floating row.
*Note: Videos must be on Youtube to use in a Marquee background. If you need assistance with getting a YouTube URL, submit a ticket to tickets@gsu.edu.
