Remove the "gross guy" from the home page
As a GSU alum, I just wanted to put my 2 cents in regarding the home page. It's a bit off-putting when the first thing you see is, well, I'm not really sure what I am seeing - a "thing" is the best way to describe it.
I am sure it is meant to be tongue-in-cheek but it's a bit much and not what I would expect for a collegiate home page

stop waiting until the last minute to let students know that they do not have enough grant aid, and the wait time when on calls is to long.
the wait time when someone calls for information or what ever reason is awful . No should not be have to be on hold for an 1 hour just to find out that the person they called for is not there. This has happened to many times. hire an answering service or something.
1 voteWe have passed this suggestion onto the financial services folks.

add the share toolbar to each post.
Not sure if this has already been suggested, but we'd love the user to be able to share posts/pages on social media using the share toolbar.
5 votesHi,
Each page or post now has a share option in the upper right of the header. This header also “moves” down the page as the reader scrolls to make sure it is easily available.
Thanks,
Cody

We are going to assist our contributors by giving them access to a tool called sitebeam so they can “check” their sites and get a report to fix the obvious items. Thanks for the feedback.
We offer a tool to help admins do this. Each gets an email every 4 days about their progress and outstanding issues.

contacts
Add a list of employee names to the contacts along with their job title as well as an area for complaints for rude staff.
1 voteYou can us the contact info under the about section to find a department, and we also have a directory search at the top of the page.
Each unit handles feedback differently. I encourage you to contact the with it so the know about the experience you are having.

change 404 page
Instead of Pounce and the latest tweet on the 404 page, can you put some useful information, such as where to report a broken link, and maybe a link to some of the useful navigation hubs, like the A-Z department list? The tweet (and even Pounce) is fine, but it's not really helping users who are lost in the new pages, and we've already gotten some complaints from prospective students and parents about it. Adding a default broken link instructional paragraph before the tweet would do wonders.
7 votesEach site in the latest theme can have a custom 404 page. We have developed a template for release later this summer.

A to Z directory
Would be helpful to include an A to Z directory to easily locate departments. For example, how would a visitor to the main page know where to look to find our department................the Government and Community Affairs page?
2 votesDebbie,
We have the A-Z in our two top menus. We have also added it under the about section. Thanks for the suggestion. -
Add an email option
I love the option to post to facebook and twitter. How about an email option as well to avoid copying & pasting the url?

make departments searchable on the map page!
If you're looking for a GSU department, you should be able to search for it on the map and it should lead you to the correct building that houses that department's main office.
10 votesWe are going to mark this under review to see if it can get more votes. A this time the data to create such a feature is not easily sustained and there are multiple departments in multiple locations. I would like to see if more people request this feature.
The latest map has some of this. Departments are hard, but the search tool will continue to be refined to include more information.

Bottom hlf is great. The gray bar that flies up when you mouse the header image is distracting.
Hi! A lot of this is neat and visual, but I find the gray pop-up box that appears when you mouse over the header image highly visually distracting (to the point of it being annoying) and unnecessary. Any chance that the giant gray bar there could obscure less of the image, or go away entirely? It's clear without the big gray bar that the item is clickable--the current homepage functions that way, and is lovely. Has that visual element been usability tested? Thank you!
17 votesWe’ve moved away from this in the latest theme and took the information to make the latest version flexible enough to not have to use this method.

Rec center hours
I cannot find where the Rec center hours are listed on the new cite.

Tag colleges and departments in post
I would love to see specific colleges and departments tagged (or even linked to) in stories to drive traffic to those sites as well. The banner and all the buckets on the homepage right now are about arts and sciences, but none of them are tagged arts and sciences or even linked to the specific department page. It's great to have stories that highlight all that we do here, but it's even better if those stories lead to traffic to our sites to further increase interest in our programs. Thanks.
3 votesThe new news hub does this and more. A great suggestion.

Decrease the amount of whitespace at the top of the homepage.
As highlighted here in red: http://cl.ly/image/2e2V05063k3N It feels like a waste of vertical space.
2 votesThanks for the great feedback. We have removed the white space.

Better mobile site
The website while viewing on smart phones is horrible
2 votesThe new page builder allows maximum control of the mobile experience and moved the site a far distance in both quality and ease of use on a mobile device.

Add some padding to the text on mobile news pages
I was tryin to read this article: http://news.gsu.edu/2013/07/01/georgia-state-university-foundation-purchases-55-park-place/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=georgia-state-university-foundation-purchases-55-park-place
However, the text is right up against the side of the iPhone screen and is hard to see. Add some padding to the sides.
1 voteWe’re working on this right now.
Thanks for the feedback. We did this and more to make news better in the latest theme.

Add a print/PDF/Email button
Would love to see each article have a print/PDF/email options to be able to send this out to others. I love that there are already social media buttons.
5 votesClynton,
This is under review. We currently have options in test to produce as positive result as possible for all of the features we offer for content display. These features used to work well with long streaming ages of text, but now with the sophistication of “active” objects like tabs and sliders it is difficult to produce the printed object from that designed to produce am exceptional digital experience. An additional item to test with “print” is the moblie expectation of such function.
That said we will look into it and try to find a balance.
Printer Friendly is on every site and available to be part of several parts of the new theme.

Interactive map should show MARTA stops
The interactive map does not show where the MARTA stops are.
Also, there is a phone number on the map, but no e-mail.5 votesWe have a ton of ideas for the map and this is a great one. Thanks.
We have added the Marta rail stations as we have access to these. We will continue to add transit items as they become available sources for the map.
The phone numbers on the map are designed to accommodate people who are lost and need to speak with a live person. We do not currently have an email account monitored the same way to provide that kind of support.
we will add a link to http://gsu.edu/contact-us.

Pull D2Learn onto the front page for mobile users
Pull D2Learn onto the front page for mobile users. We students consantly access the D2L and our emails and it needs to be front and center on mobile.
3 votesGood idea. NO! Awesome idea. We added this as a second row of menu options for mobile users. You may still have to pinch and zoom your way through GoSolar, but it’s there. Thanks for the original idea and the add-ons to follow.
