make the 'commkit.gsu link on the GSU map the PRIMARY map, as opposed to requiring outsiders guess at clicking the icon in the top right cor
When a user-- including GSU students, faculty, and staff-- clicks 'map' on the GSU web page they are taken to a page that does not initially identify all of the buildings by name. It is only on enlarging the page that this happens. The 'commkit.gsu...' link has a list of building names and their relative locations more easily identifiable, and I believe it would be more useful to have that page as the initial 'campus map' url
4 votesWe implemented a new campus map tool that offers this feature as well as more options to share specific filters, locations and more.

We are going to assist our contributors by giving them access to a tool called sitebeam so they can “check” their sites and get a report to fix the obvious items. Thanks for the feedback.
We offer a tool to help admins do this. Each gets an email every 4 days about their progress and outstanding issues.

Tag colleges and departments in post
I would love to see specific colleges and departments tagged (or even linked to) in stories to drive traffic to those sites as well. The banner and all the buckets on the homepage right now are about arts and sciences, but none of them are tagged arts and sciences or even linked to the specific department page. It's great to have stories that highlight all that we do here, but it's even better if those stories lead to traffic to our sites to further increase interest in our programs. Thanks.
3 votesThe new news hub does this and more. A great suggestion.

Hi in January we added the print option in the header (upper-right) to every page and post. This print feature allows you to delete the areas you’d like to eliminate from the page.

Repair "Explore - Graduate Programs". Search results will not load past first page.
The Explore tool will not load the grid or list of graduate programs past the first page and when multiple Interest Areas are selected the page will not load.
3 votesThanks for the feedback, and sorry for our tardiness in response. We did look into this early last month and found the root issue. We ended up not only fixing this, but making everything a little faster on the website. Let us know if you see anything else, your input is important.

Pull D2Learn onto the front page for mobile users
Pull D2Learn onto the front page for mobile users. We students consantly access the D2L and our emails and it needs to be front and center on mobile.
3 votesGood idea. NO! Awesome idea. We added this as a second row of menu options for mobile users. You may still have to pinch and zoom your way through GoSolar, but it’s there. Thanks for the original idea and the add-ons to follow.

Make it possible to embed something like the uservoice form in a page
There are some possible user flow reasons why we might want to embed the code for an outside service like uservoice in a page as well as being able to do it in floating tabs.
3 votesIn ways we’ve done this in the latest theme with sticky rows, JS embeds with the toolbox and more. Thanks for the idea.

Add ability to update files
Currently, to update a file in the Media Library, you must delete the file and re-upload the new one. I can see this getting annoying quickly when updating several files at once.
Maybe a plugin like http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/enable-media-replace would work.

Automatically add pdf, doc, etc. icons to links
It would be pretty great if a few lines were included in CSS to automatically add little icons :after to common file types (doc, xls, pdf, ppt, etc) based on href$ — example CSS from ucr.edu:
a[href$="pdf"]:after { content: " " url(/images/design6/pdf.gif); }
a[href$="doc"]:after, a[href$="docx"]:after { content: " " url(/images/design6/doc.gif); }IE 7 doesn't recognize :after, but this is just window-dressing, rather than functional, so at UCR that was deemed an acceptable excursion from 100% feature parity.
3 votesWe have added this ability. There may be some places where this creates an unexpected outcome for some pages, but the majority of instances where creators have added a file this provides a little more awareness to users as to the tools they will need to view or interact with the document. This was a great suggestion Jessica.

Add margins to tables
We really need to get some margins added to tables; right now any content above (e.g. a heading) and below a table is smashed right up against it, and it looks pretty bad. margin: 12px 0 or 24px 0 would be nice (12px looks ok to me, but line-height is generally 24px so that might be better).

Have the Correct Information
Maybe you should have the correct information posted online and on your automated phone system. I tried calling Undergraduate Admissions after 8:30 AM the posted opening but no one answered. Even though the magic man on the phone told me the office would open at 8:30. I then called the GSU operator who told me I couldn't call back till 10 and that's when the Office of Admissions would be open.
Get your stuff together.

A to Z directory
Would be helpful to include an A to Z directory to easily locate departments. For example, how would a visitor to the main page know where to look to find our department................the Government and Community Affairs page?
2 votesDebbie,
We have the A-Z in our two top menus. We have also added it under the about section. Thanks for the suggestion. -
Have an option to place social media icons directly above or below a post.
The current lower right corner toolbar placement is too obscure. Most blogs have social sharing and email icons located close to the post. Having icons in a visible and familiar spot could increase our visibility through social media sharing.
2 votesIn January we deployed a “share” function at the top of the header that allows you to share any page or post. Thanks for the feedback.

Decrease the amount of whitespace at the top of the homepage.
As highlighted here in red: http://cl.ly/image/2e2V05063k3N It feels like a waste of vertical space.
2 votesThanks for the great feedback. We have removed the white space.

Adding links on homepage
I would like to get information for the different campus directly from the home page such as the alpharetta campus or the sandy springs campus. I am still looking for it but can't find it anywhere.
2 votesCampus names, links to each map and phone numbers have been added to the bottom of the homepage.

Add email and social sharing buttons to the article pages
I love that people have the option to post to Facebook or Tweet an article when they hover over the headline on the home page.
But most folks probably won't know that they want to share a story until after they have clicked through and read it. Once they've done that, they have no way to share unless they remember to back up and go to the home page and hover over the box that led them into the story.
2 votesWe are currently working on a solution.
Great idea. This is automatically part of the news hub.
Thanks

Make accordion content printable
Can you make accordion content appear when it prints by default?
I can do this by adding <style media="not screen">div.accordion-body { height: auto; } </style> to my page, but it would be nice if this was done automatically.

Add some margin-top to p's within blockquotes
Blockquotes can often consist of more than one paragraph, and currently the CSS eliminates the margin-bottom that p's normally have. In order to preserve the lack-of-margin-bottom for the :last-child (but without using :last-child, which doesn't work in older versions of IE), I would suggest:
blockquote p + p { margin-top: 12px; }
2 votesTotally agree. I’m pushing to have all of the typography cleaned up. There are just other higher priority issues to resolve at the moment.
The new theme has options to do this in the page builder. Thanks for the idea.

Profile template - please make 'biography' label conditional-display.
On the profile page template, most content fields only display their label if there is data for that field, but biography shows no matter what. Biography will be an unused field for our department, replaced by research interests (more relevant for our faculty). If possible in the next iteration of the profile template (which I'm told will have research interests added) could the biography label be made to work like the other field labels (hidden if there is no field content to display)?
2 votesThe new profile tool has this but we include a better interface so that if this isn’t lengthy there’s still an option to get to the other information quickly.
