Our web pages provide users with a great deal of important information, but it is still essential to make contact information easy to find. Most of our pages include a contact row at the bottom of the page; however, it is also a best practice, and a standard for GSU websites, to provide a dedicated Contact Us page under the About Us navigation menu.

A dedicated Contact Us page benefits both users and search optimization, including SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and AEO (Answer Engine Optimization). Providing clear, structured contact information makes it easier for search engines and AI tools to answer common questions such as:

“What are the hours of operation for the College of Education, and what is their physical address?”

What to Include on Your Contact Us Page

To help users and AI-powered search tools quickly find and understand this information, Contact Us pages should include the following content:

  1. Hours of Operation
    List the hours for each day individually to provide maximum clarity for users and AEO. For example:

    • Monday: 8:30 a.m. – 5:15 p.m.
    • Tuesday: 8:30 a.m. – 5:15 p.m.
    • Wednesday: 8:30 a.m. – 5:15 p.m.
    • Thursday: 8:30 a.m. – 5:15 p.m.
    • Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 5:15 p.m.

  2. Mailing Address

  3. In-Person Address
    If the in-person address is different from the mailing address, provide it separately. The in-person address should link to the location on the Campus Map.

  4. Phone Number(s)
    Make sure your numbers are listed in the proper manner and set up as clickable links (for example: 404-413-5555. Then make it clickable by linking it to: tel:4044135555)

  5. Fax Number
    Include if you have a public fax number.

  6. Contact Names, Titles, and Email Addresses
    Include when applicable.

  7. Contact Form
    Include a contact form when applicable.

  8. Any other information your users may need to reach your department

Tailor the Information to Your Department

Not every department's Contact Us page will contain the same information. The content should reflect what matters most and is most useful for that department's users.

Departments may include the same contact information currently provided in the contact rows at the bottom of their web pages. The goal is to ensure users and AI search tools can easily find the information they need to answer common questions and determine how to contact the appropriate office or person.

Accessibility

All Contact Us pages must be ADA/Section 508 compliant so that the information is accessible to all users, including users who rely on assistive technologies.

A well-structured, accessible Contact Us page helps ensure that users (and the search engines and AI tools they rely on) can quickly find accurate, essential information about your department.
