What alternative forms can I use if we need to collect PII (personally identifiable information)?

Using Gravity Forms and/or Formidable Forms for basic content collection is simple and fast, but its "entry storage" on our WordPress servers is not secure.

If you need your users to submit more personal information than just their names, email addresses, and phone numbers (for example, if you need Panther ID numbers, birth dates, or any other private information), you need to consider using one of the other free form tools available to GSU faculty and staff that are capable of collecting PII (personally identifiable information) and storing them on secure servers.

Form creation tools widely available at the university include Qualtrics, Microsoft Forms, and Microsoft Sharepoint for more complex applications.

To find out which form creation tool for collecting PII is right for you and your website, go to IIT's Creating Forms: Understanding PII webpage, which goes into great detail on when and how to use PII in your forms and which form creation tool will work best for you.

Once your form with PII has been created, you can link it to your WordPress webpage. If you need help connecting your form to your page, contact our team at tickets@gsu.uservoice.com. We would be glad to help.
